I am looking for a PostgreSQL Database Engineer to join a large-scale database modernization project focused on migrating Oracle to PostgreSQL. You will be responsible for schema conversion, datatype mapping, and ensuring functional compatibility after migration. The role includes designing indexing strategies, PostgreSQL configuration, query analysis, and performance tuning. I expect strong PostgreSQL expertise, solid Oracle knowledge, and proven hands-on experience with Oracle to PostgreSQL migrations.

- migration of database services from Oracle to PostgreSQL
- schema conversion and datatype mapping between Oracle and PostgreSQL
- ensuring functional compatibility after migration
- design and review of indexing strategies
- PostgreSQL configuration and performance optimization

- collaboration with application teams on database design and requirements translation
- documentation of migration learnings, best practices, and reusable processes
- ensuring stability, reliability, and performance of the target PostgreSQL environment
🎯 Skills
- strong hands-on PostgreSQL experience (DBA, Database Engineer or Developer)
- proven Oracle to PostgreSQL migration experience
- strong knowledge of PostgreSQL internals, indexing, query planning, monitoring, and performance tuning
- good knowledge of Oracle and differences between Oracle and PostgreSQL
- experience with schema conversion, datatype mapping, and functional equivalence
- ability to optimize PostgreSQL schemas, queries, indexes, and configuration
- experience with Liquibase or similar database versioning/change management tools
- strong communication and collaboration skills with engineering teams

- experience with Java-based applications using PostgreSQL
- experience with Kafka or Solace
- experience with distributed systems or event-driven architectures
